Regular Season Round 28: Caja Laboral - Blancos de R. 84-80
Date: April 6, 2013
There was no surprise in Vitoria where 12th ranked Blancos de Rueda (11-17) was defeated by second ranked Caja Laboral (21-7) 84-80 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Blancos de Rueda won third quarter 18-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Caja Laboral won last quarter 23-20. Worth to mention a great performance of Italian-Argentinian Andres Nocioni (199-79) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 6 rebounds and Serbian-Montenegrin power forward Milko Bjelica (205-84, agency: Beo Basket) who added 9 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Caja Laboral's coach Zan Tabak used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side forward Nacho Martin (205-83) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Ian O'Leary (201-86, college: St.Mary's, CA) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Caja Laboral maintains second position with 21-7 record having four points less than leader Real Madrid. Loser Blancos de Rueda dropped to the thirteenth place with 17 games lost. Caja Laboral will face Gescrap BB (#5) in Bilbao in the next round. Blancos de Rueda will play at home against CB Canarias (#12) in Tenerife and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
