Regular Season Round 21: Olimpi - STU Tbilisi 123-66

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Olimpi as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Olimpi smashed 11th ranked STU in Tbilisi 123-66. Olimpi dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to STU's 34. Olimpi forced 25 STU turnovers and outrebounded them 47-31 including a 29-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 39 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by STU's players. Forward Levan Fatsatsia (198-88) stepped up and scored 25 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and international Akaki Dvalishvili (206-90) chipped in 24 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). Five Olimpi players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Zurab Machaladze (198-92) with 9 points and 8 rebounds and forward Tato Chachibaia (201-90) scored 15 points. STU's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with MIA Academy. STU at the other side stay dead last with 18 lost games. There is only one round left in the Regular Season. And it will be most important game for STU this season. They will face Dinamo Tbilisi trying to get back on the winning streak. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena of Dinamo Tbilisi. Olimpi will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Armia. It will be extra interesting game as Armia is their local rival from Tbilisi.
