There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Sluc Nancy (9-17) defeated on the road higher ranked Paris-Levallois (13-13) 79-73 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-16. But Paris-Levallois won second period 11-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sluc Nancy made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Paris-Levallois turnovers. Naturalized Ivorian forward Herve Toure (202-82) scored 20 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized Ivorian point guard Souleyman Diabate (183-87, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 13 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 8 steals during the contest. Five Sluc Nancy players scored in double figures. American forward Jawad Williams (204-83, college: N.Carolina) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and U.S. Virgin Islands-Antiguan guard Julius Hodge (201-83, college: N.Carolina St.) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sluc Nancy maintains fourteenth position with 9-17 record. Loser Paris-Levallois keeps the eighth place with 13 games lost. Sluc Nancy will face higher ranked ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (#6) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
