Regular Season Round 30: Monaco - Souffel 72-55

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Souffelweyersheim (18-9) against sixth ranked Monaco (16-10) on Saturday night. Visiting Souffelweyersheim was defeated by Monaco in Monaco 72-55. The game was mostly controlled by Monaco. Souffelweyersheim was better in second period 14-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Souffelweyersheim was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Serbian forward Milutin Aleksic (203-82) notched 16 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and American center Jason Jones (203-86, college: Northeastern St.) supported him with 14 points. Monaco's coach Jean-Michel Senegal allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 18 points by guard Frederic Broliron (193-79) did not help to save the game for Souffelweyersheim. Naturalized Chadian forward Jacques Alingue (201-88) added 6 points and 9 rebounds. Monaco have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Cognac. Souffelweyersheim at the other side keeps the second position with nine games lost. They share it with Vichy. Monaco will play against Quimper UJAP (#7) on the road in the next round. Souffelweyersheim will play against Blois (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
