Very expected game when 9th ranked Amsterdam (4-31) was crushed on the road by third ranked Groningen (24-10) 83-57 on Saturday. The game without a history. Groningen led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Amsterdam's 30. They outrebounded Amsterdam 50-33 including a 25-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Jamal Boykin (203-87, college: California) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. The former international center Thomas Koenis (206-89, agency: Court Side) chipped in 9 points and 13 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Maurits Pieper (198-90) who recorded 15 points and 7 rebounds and center Berend Weijs (208, college: Maryland) added 12 points, 10 rebounds and 7 blocks respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Groningen have a solid series of three victories in a row.
