The game between closely ranked teams ended with 10th ranked Miyazaki Shining Suns' (9-38) road loss to ninth ranked Oita Heat Devils (19-28) 69-84 on Saturday. Oita Heat Devils dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Miyazaki Shining Suns' 28. Oita Heat Devils had a 28-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Quite impressive performance for Nigerian-American forward P.J. Alawoya (203-88, college: McNeese St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points and 15 rebounds. American center Thomas Granado (208-88, college: Concordia Irvine) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Alawoya is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Oita Heat Devils players scored in double figures. Forward Hiroshi Otsuka (188-87) answered with 31 points and Nigerian forward Abdullahi Kuso (206-84, college: Tallahassee CC) added 16 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Miyazaki Shining Suns. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Oita Heat Devils have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Takamatsu FA. Miyazaki Shining Suns lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 38 games lost. Oita Heat Devils will face again Miyazaki Shining Suns (#10) at home in the next round.
