Important game to mention about took place in Villeurbanne. Sixth ranked ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (15-11) saved a 3-point victory at home edging second-ranked Strasbourg IG (17-9) 84-81 on Monday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-18. But Strasbourg IG won second period 20-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. The former international guard Edwin Jackson (191-89) notched 18 points and 5 assists to lead the effort and American forward Tim Abromaitis (203-89, college: Notre Dame) supported him with 18 points and 6 rebounds. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket's coach Pierre Vincent allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 19 points and 7 rebounds by the former international center Alexis Ajinca (215-88, agency: Priority Sports) did not help to save the game for Strasbourg IG. American-Dominican swingman Ricardo Greer (197-78, college: Pittsburgh) added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the guests. Four Strasbourg IG players scored in double figures. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Le Mans and Roanne. Strasbourg IG at the other side keeps the second position with nine games lost.
