Regular Season Round 8: Hermosillo - Nogales 67-72
Date: April 13, 2013
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (4-4) against seventh ranked Fuerza Guinda Nogales (4-4) on Saturday night. Host Rayos de Hermosillo was defeated by Fuerza Guinda Nogales in a tough game in Hermosillo 67-72. The guests were already 15 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 29-19 Rayos de Hermosillo's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 72-67 at the end of the game. Fuerza Guinda Nogales made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. The winners were led by Bahamas power forward Ryan Moss (200-74, college: UALR) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and American guard Dallas Logan (193-82, college: Northwood) supported him with 21 points. Even 14 points and 5 rebounds by international point guard Steve Monreal (180-86, college: CS Monterey) did not help to save the game for Rayos de Hermosillo. Juan Esteva Hernandez added 12 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Rayos de Hermosillo's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Fuerza Guinda Nogales moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Rayos de Hermosillo. Fuerza Guinda Nogales will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Rayos de Hermosillo will play at home against the league's second-placed Mineros de Cananea and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
