Regular Season Round 51: Akita NH - Niigata Albirex 70-79

BJ League top team - Niigata Albirex (32-15) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat fifth ranked Akita Happinets (23-24) 79-70. They outrebounded Akita Happinets 40-27 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American guard Nile Murry (193-83, college: TCU) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import center Chris Holm (212-84, college: Vermont) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Four Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Marshall Brown (199-85, college: Missouri) who recorded 20 points and 7 rebounds and the former international point guard Yuki Togashi (170-93) added 21 points respectively. Akita Happinets' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Niigata Albirex maintains first place with 32-15 record, which they share with Toyama Grouses. Loser Akita Happinets keep the fifth position with 24 games lost. They share it with Chiba Jets. Niigata Albirex will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Akita Happinets will play again against the league's leader Niigata Albirex (#1) and hope to secure a win.
