Regular Season Round 24: Aalstar - Leuven 91-62
Date: April 13, 2013
No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Okapi Aalstar (15-9) crushed at home 6th ranked Leuven Bears (8-15) 91-62. The game without a history. Okapi Aalstar led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 19-of-22 charity shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Okapi Aalstar had a 30-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American Derek Raivio (190-84, college: Gonzaga) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 6 assists and Samoan-American power forward John Tofi (203-84, college: UTEP) who added 14 points during the contest. Five Okapi Aalstar players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican forward Ivan Aska (200-90, college: Murray St.) with 24 points and international point guard Niels Marnegrave (191-87) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Okapi Aalstar moved-up to third place, which they share with M.Hainaut. Leuven Bears at the other side keep the sixth position with 15 games lost. Okapi Aalstar will play against Belfius Mons-Hainaut (#3) in Quaregnon in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Leuven Bears will play at home against the league's leader Base Oostende and hope to get back on the winning track.
