Tijuana Zonkeys has finally registered their first victory this season after four consecutive loses. The win is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon (3-2) 90-76 on Saturday. Tijuana Zonkeys looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. The best player for the winners was point guard Luis Ramirez (180-82) who scored 32 points and 7 assists. The former international point guard Omar Quintero (183-81, college: S.Nazarene) chipped in 21 points and 8 assists. Five Tijuana Zonkeys players scored in double figures. American Kenny Jones (198-84, college: Kentucky St., agency: Dream Team Management) produced 25 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Derek Thomas (193-84, college: Appalachian St.) added 20 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Tijuana Zonkeys maintains ninth position with 1-4 record. Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon at the other side dropped to the sixth place with two games lost. Tijuana Zonkeys will meet higher ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (#7) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon will play against Frayles de Guasave and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
