Regular Season Round 52: Okinawa GK - Gunma 98-72
Date: April 14, 2013
Leader Okinawa GK delivered the 38th victory on Sunday night. This time they crushed 11th ranked Gunma (12-36) 98-72. The game was mostly controlled by Okinawa GK. Gunma managed to win fourth quarter 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Okinawa GK dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Gunma's 38. Worth to mention a quality performance of American swingman Terrance Woodbury (201-87, college: Georgia) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import Anthony McHenry (202-83, college: Georgia Tech) who added 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Woodbury is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side American forward Dominique Keller (203-88, college: Illinois) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds and Vincentian center Nyika Williams (203-87, college: Pacific) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Okinawa GK have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 38-10 record. Gunma lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh place with 36 games lost. Okinawa GK will meet Tokyo Cinq R. (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gunma will play against Hamamatsu Phoenix in Mikawa and hope to secure a win.
