An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Sassari. Second ranked Banco di Sard. faced 3rd placed Lottomatica Roma. Host Banco di Sard. (19-8) defeated guests from Roma (17-10) 105-87. It looked good early as Lottomatica Roma took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Banco di Sard. had a 32-19 second period charge getting the lead and Lottomatica Roma was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 87-105. Banco di Sard. players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. It was a good game for American point guard Travis Diener (184-82, college: Marquette) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 assists. His fellow American import guard Drake Diener (196-81, college: De Paul, agency: Priority Sports) contributed with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Banco di Sard.'s coach Romeo Sacchetti allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American guard Phil Goss (186-83, college: Drexel) answered with 21 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and international forward Luigi Datome (203-87) added 17 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Lottomatica Roma. Five Banco di Sard. and four Lottomatica Roma players scored in double figures. Banco di Sard. maintains second place with 19-8 record having just two points less than leader Cimberio VA. Lottomatica Roma lost third consecutive game. They keep the third position with ten games lost. Banco di Sard. will play against Oknoplast BO (#15) in Bologna in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Lottomatica Roma will play at home against Enel Brindisi (#12) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
