Bottom-ranked Tijuana Zonkeys managed to get a second victory. This time they edged sixth-ranked Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon 80-77. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon won third quarter 19-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon 44-32 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Tijuana Zonkeys players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward James Penny (198-76, college: TCU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international point guard Omar Quintero (183-81, college: S.Nazarene) contributed with 21 points and 5 assists for the winners. Five Tijuana Zonkeys players scored in double figures. American Kenny Jones (198-84, college: Kentucky St., agency: Dream Team Management) answered with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import forward Derek Thomas (193-84, college: Appalachian St.) added 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon. Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Tijuana Zonkeys (2-4) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Guasave. Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon at the other side dropped to the second position with three games lost. They share it with Los Mochis. Tijuana Zonkeys will again play against league's second-placed Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon will have a break next round.
