Cherkasy held off Ferro-ZNTU to secure the first win in the series. Ferro-ZNTU was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Cherkasy players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. The winners were led by forward Vincent Hunter (208-84, college: Arkansas) who scored that evening 20 points and 7 rebounds and forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) supported him with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Even 26 points and 7 rebounds by R.T. Guinn (208-81, college: Baylor) did not help to save the game for Ferro-ZNTU. point guard Randy Culpepper (182-89, college: UTEP) added 22 points and 4 assists for lost side. Five Cherkasy and four Ferro-ZNTU players scored in double figures.
