The game without a history. Galatasaray led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Istanbul Universitesi's 38. They outrebounded Istanbul Universitesi 45-14 including a 35-9 advantage in defensive rebounds. Galatasaray players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. American center Sylvia Fowles (198-85, college: LSU) scored 18 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and Vincentian-Spanish center Sancho Lyttle (192-83, college: Houston) chipped in 4 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Galatasaray's coach Ekrem Memnun felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international guard Tugba Palazoglu (171-80) responded with 11 points and American power forward Ebony Hoffman (188-82, college: USC) scored 11 points.
