Second Stage Round 1: Hapoel T-A - Bnei Hasharon 79-60

Date: April 17, 2013
The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv as it allowed them to take a leadership position in League. Hapoel Tel-Aviv smashed 5th ranked Bnei Hasharon at home 79-60. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Hapoel Tel-Aviv's pressure prevailed and they won that period 29-14 extending their advantage to 19 points. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Swedish power forward Jonathan Skjoldebrand (204-83) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 7 rebounds. American point guard Demontez Stitt (186-89, college: Clemson) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Hapoel Tel-Aviv's coach Erez Edelshtein used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Niv Berkowitz (190-86, college: Marquette, agency: Z.A.G. - Law Offices) answered with 17 points and American forward Jumaine Jones (203-79, college: Georgia) added 12 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Bnei Hasharon. Four Bnei Hasharon players scored in double figures. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Bnei Hasharon at the other side keeps the fifth place with 15 games lost. Bnei Hasharon will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Maccabi Ashdod on the road.
