Another exciting game for Maccabi Ashdod (10-13) which played on the court of 3rd placed Hapoel Holon (9-14). Fourth ranked Maccabi Ashdod won 83-79. Hapoel Holon was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. American players dominated the game. Forward Diamon Simpson (201-87, college: St.Mary's, CA) stepped up and scored 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and guard Mardy Collins (198-84, college: Temple) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side forward Frank Hassell (203-88, college: ODU) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 17 rebounds and forward Lawrence Hill (203-87, college: Stanford) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds. Four Maccabi Ashdod and five Hapoel Holon players scored in double figures. Maccabi Ashdod moved-up to third place in League. Hapoel Holon at the other side dropped to the fourth position with 14 games lost. Maccabi Ashdod will play against league's leader Hapoel Tel-Aviv at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hapoel Holon will play against Ironi Ashkelon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
