Fuerza Guinda Nogales (#5) were upset in Guasave by eighth ranked Frayles de Guasave 109-102. They made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Eniel Polynice (195-88, college: Seton Hall) who led the winners and scored 29 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. His fellow American import forward Eric Frederick (203-88, college: Texas Wesleyan) accounted for 31 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Bahamas power forward Ryan Moss (200-74, college: UALR) came up with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds and American-Cameroonian guard Mahmoud Abdul-Awwel (196-84, college: Arizona) added 20 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Fuerza Guinda Nogales in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Frayles de Guasave (4-6) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Obregon. Fuerza Guinda Nogales at the other side dropped to the third position with five games lost. They share it with Tijuana and Los Mochis. Frayles de Guasave will again play against higher ranked Fuerza Guinda Nogales (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Fuerza Guinda Nogales will have a break next round.
