The game was mostly controlled by Istanbul Universitesi. Galatasaray managed to win third quarter 16-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Galatasaray to just 7 points in second quarter. It was a good game for American guard Essence Carson (183-86, college: Rutgers) who led her team to a victory with 21 points and 5 rebounds. International point guard Nilay Kartaltepe Yigit (172-79) contributed with 17 points, 8 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Four Istanbul Universitesi players scored in double figures. American center Sylvia Fowles (198-85, college: LSU) answered with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import guard Lindsey Harding (173-84, college: Duke) added 17 points in the effort for Galatasaray. Galatasaray's coach Ekrem Memnun rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win.
