Regular Season Round 54: Shimane SM - Saitama Bron. 117-95
Date: April 21, 2013
Very predictable result when third ranked Shimane Magic (32-18) smashed at home 10th ranked Saitama Broncos (15-35) 117-95 on Sunday. Shimane Magic looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Shimane Magic made 9 blocks. The game was also dominated by American players. Center Jeral Davis (216-84) had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 17 rebounds and 5 blocks to lead the charge for the winners and forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) chipped in 25 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Davis is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Shimane Magic players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was swingman John Humphrey (188-80, college: Middle Tenn.St., agency: Court Side) with a double-double by scoring 46 points (!!!), 14 rebounds and 5 assists and power forward Wayne Oliver (201-80, college: W.Hills JC) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Shimane Magic maintains third position with 32-18 record having just two points less than leader Okinawa GK. Loser Saitama Broncos keep the tenth place with 35 games lost. Shimane Magic will face Shiga L-Stars (#4) on the road in the next round. Saitama Broncos will play against the league's second-placed Yokohama BC (#2).
