There was a minor upset in Nagano where 7th ranked Sendai 89ers (20-30) were edged by ninth ranked Shinshu BW (17-33) 83-80 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 27-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The game was also dominated by American players. Power forward Michael Fey (213-83, college: UCLA) scored 22 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Jermaine Green (203-80, college: N.Texas) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was center Sam Coleman (208-87, college: Coppin St.) with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds and forward Sam Willard (205-88, college: Pacific) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. Sendai 89ers' coach Robert Pierce let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Shinshu BW moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Tokyo Cinq R. Loser Sendai 89ers keep the seventh position with 30 games lost. Shinshu BW will face higher ranked Toyama Grouses (#4) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
