Rather expected game when 6th ranked Ironi Ashkelon (5-19) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Hapoel Holon (10-14) 83-77. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-19. But Ironi Ashkelon won second period 25-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hapoel Holon made 29-of-34 charity shots (85.3 percent) during the game, while Ironi Ashkelon only scored nine points from the stripe. 29 personal fouls committed by Ironi Ashkelon helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. Forward Frank Hassell (203-88, college: ODU) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 17 rebounds. Guard Jerome Dyson (191-87, college: Connecticut) contributed with 24 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Hapoel Holon players scored in double figures. Guard Marque Perry (185-81, college: St.Louis, agency: N.E.T.) replied with 23 points and swingman Jarvis Hayes (201-81, college: Georgia) added 18 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Ironi Ashkelon. Hapoel Holon moved-up to third place in League. Ironi Ashkelon at the other side keeps the sixth position with 19 games lost. Hapoel Holon's next round opponent will be Bnei Hasharon (#5) in Hod Hasharon. Ironi Ashkelon will play at home against Maccabi Ashdod and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
