Second Stage Round 3: Bnei Hasharon - Hapoel Holon 83-92

There was no surprise in Hod Hasharon where 5th ranked Bnei Hasharon (8-16) was defeated by third ranked Hapoel Holon (11-14) 92-83 on Wednesday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 33-23. But Bnei Hasharon won second period 24-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hapoel Holon looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Frank Hassell (203-88, college: ODU) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 21 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Jerome Dyson (191-87, college: Connecticut) chipped in 33 points (!!!). At the other side the best for losing team was American-Mexican swingman Romel Beck (201-82, college: UNLV, agency: Interperformances) who recorded 27 points and guard Niv Berkowitz (190-86, college: Marquette, agency: Z.A.G. - Law Offices) added 14 points and 9 assists respectively. Five Bnei Hasharon players scored in double figures. Hapoel Holon maintains third place in League with 11-14 record behind leader Galil Gilboa. Loser Bnei Hasharon keeps the fifth position with 16 games lost. Hapoel Holon will face league's leader Galil Gilboa in Rosh Pina in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bnei Hasharon will play on the road against Maccabi Ashdod (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
