Second Stage Round 3: Galil Gilboa - Hapoel T-A 82-79

Round 3 in Winner League means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Rosh Pina where host Galil Gilboa (12-12) edged league's leader Hapoel Tel-Aviv (12-13) 82-79 on Thursday evening. It was a key game for the top position in League. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 45-41 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Galil Gilboa outrebounded Hapoel Tel-Aviv 41-25 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Jamar Smith (191-87, college: S.Indiana, agency: KMG Sports Management) who scored 27 points and 5 assists. His fellow American import forward Mitchell Watt (208-89, college: Buffalo) chipped in 8 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Demontez Stitt (186-89, college: Clemson) who recorded 18 points and 4 assists and naturalized Swedish power forward Jonathan Skjoldebrand (204-83) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Five Hapoel Tel-Aviv players scored in double figures. Galil Gilboa keeps a position of League leader. Newly promoted Hapoel Tel-Aviv dropped to the second place with 13 games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Galil Gilboa. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will play next round against Ironi Ashkelon trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Galil Gilboa will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Hapoel Holon on the road.
