Very expected game when 10th ranked Saitama Broncos (15-36) were crushed at home by second ranked Yokohama BC (34-17) 124-99 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Yokohama BC. Saitama Broncos was better in fourth quarter 26-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Yokohama BC made 26-of-31 free shots (83.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Saitama Broncos were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy, agency: Global Sports Plaza) who led his team to a victory scoring 37 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds. Swingman Masayuki Kabaya (183-82) helped adding 39 points (!!!) and 4 assists. Four Yokohama BC players scored in double figures. At the losing side American swingman John Humphrey (188-80, college: Middle Tenn.St., agency: Court Side) responded with 35 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Yuki Kitamuki (184-85) scored 28 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Yokohama BC maintains second place with 34-17 record having seven points less than leader Niigata Albirex, which they share with Toyama Grouses and Iwate Big Bulls. Loser Saitama Broncos keep the tenth position with 36 games lost. Yokohama BC will have a break next round. Saitama Broncos will play again at home against the league's second-placed Yokohama BC (#2).
