Benfica became the first semifinalists as they rallied past Lusitania. The game without a history. Benfica led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a great evening for the former international Joao Gomes (201-85) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 6 rebounds. International center Claudio Fonseca (206-89) helped adding 15 points. Four Benfica players scored in double figures. Benfica's coach Carlos Lisboa felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American forward Durrell Nevels (198-86, college: Cent.Arkansas) with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and guard Augusto Sobrinho (188-85) scored 20 points.
