Regular Season Round 29: Le Mans - Poitiers 84-92

Bottom-ranked Poitiers managed to get a ninth victory, breaking the series of three consecutive loses on Saturday night. This time they won against fourth-ranked Le Mans 92-84. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 92-84. Poitiers outrebounded Le Mans 38-25 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Poitiers especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. The best player for the winners was American-Italian guard Anthony Dobbins (194-81, college: Richmond) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Lamine Kante (200-87) chipped in 21 points. Poitiers' coach Rudy Nelhomme used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. FYR Macedonian-American point guard Darius Washington (188-85, college: Memphis) produced 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and U.S. Virgin Islands forward Cuthbert Victor (197-83, college: Murray St.) added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Poitiers maintains sixteenth place with 9-20 record. Loser Le Mans dropped to the sixth position with 13 games lost. Poitiers will meet at home higher ranked Chorale de Roanne (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Le Mans will play against Sluc Nancy and hope to secure a win.
