Regular Season Round 55: Niigata Albirex - Sendai 89ers 98-79

BJ League top team - Niigata Albirex (35-16) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked Sendai 89ers (20-31) 98-79. The game was mostly controlled by Niigata Albirex. Sendai 89ers was better in third quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Niigata Albirex made 19-of-23 charity shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Niigata Albirex outrebounded Sendai 89ers 40-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. Americans were the main players on the court. Worth to mention a great performance of center Chris Holm (212-84, college: Vermont) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Nile Murry (193-83, college: TCU) contributed with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Five Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. Forward Sam Willard (205-88, college: Pacific) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and forward T.J. Cummings (205-81, college: UCLA) added 26 points in the effort for Sendai 89ers. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Niigata Albirex. They maintain first place with 35-16 record. Sendai 89ers at the other side keep the seventh position with 31 games lost. Niigata Albirex's next round opponent will be again Sendai 89ers (#7) at home which should be theoretically an easy game.
