Second Stage Round 4: Maccabi Ashdod - Bnei Hasharon 77-85
Date: April 28, 2013
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when one of their biggest challengers Maccabi Ashdod (10-16) lost at home to fifth ranked Bnei Hasharon (9-16) 85-77. It looked good early as Maccabi Ashdod took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Bnei Hasharon had a 25-17 second period charge getting the lead and Maccabi Ashdod was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 77-85. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Mexican swingman Romel Beck (201-82, college: UNLV, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and American forward Derrick Caracter (206-88, college: UTEP) who added 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side American forward Diamon Simpson (201-87, college: St.Mary's, CA) responded with 18 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Jamie Skeen (205-88, college: VCU) scored 15 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Five Bnei Hasharon and four Maccabi Ashdod players scored in double figures. Maccabi Ashdod's coach Ofer Berkovic tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Bnei Hasharon maintains fifth position in League with 9-16 record. Maccabi Ashdod at the other side keeps the fourth place with 16 games lost. Bnei Hasharon will play against league's leader Galil Gilboa in Rosh Pina in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Maccabi Ashdod will play on the road against the league's leader Galil Gilboa in Rosh Pina and hopes to get back on the winning track.
