Rather expected game when 6th ranked Maccabi Rishon (11-15) lost on the road to third ranked Maccabi Haifa (16-10) 76-69. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-14. But Maccabi Rishon won second period 19-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maccabi Haifa forced 21 Maccabi Rishon turnovers. Maccabi Rishon was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Greek swingman Pat Calathes (208-85, college: St.Joseph's) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 5 rebounds and American Donta Smith (201-83, college: SE Illinois JC) who added 8 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals during the contest. At the losing side Jamaican-American power forward Adrian Uter (200-84, college: Hofstra, agency: Gross Zeev ISA) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and American forward Julian Wright (203-87, college: Kansas) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Maccabi Haifa maintains third position in League with 16-10 record having just -4 point less than leader Galil Gilboa. Maccabi Rishon at the other side keeps the sixth place with 15 games lost. Maccabi Haifa will play against league's second-placed Hapoel Eilat at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Maccabi Rishon will play against Hapoel Jerusalem (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
