Very expected game when 10th ranked Upea CdO (11-16) was defeated on the road by second ranked Tuscany Pistoia (19-8) 74-70 on Sunday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Upea CdO was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Tuscany Pistoia made 21-of-23 free shots (91.3 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Panamanian swingman Michael Hicks (194-76, college: Texas A&M-CC) who scored 17 points. Swingman Riccardo Cortese (195-86) chipped in 17 points. Four Tuscany Pistoia players scored in double figures. Tuscany Pistoia's coach Paolo Moretti used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American swingman Alex Young (198-89, college: IUPUI) produced 21 points and 7 rebounds and Finnish Shawn Huff (198-84, college: Valparaiso) added 13 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Tuscany Pistoia maintains second place with 19-8 record having just -8 point less than leader Sigma Barcel. Newly promoted Upea CdO keeps the tenth position with 16 games lost. They share it with AcegasAps TR and FCM Ferentino. Tuscany Pistoia will meet Prima Veroli (#14) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Upea CdO will play against Aget Service IM (#15) in Imola and hope to secure a win.
