Regular Season Round 25: Aris - Kavala 80-79
Date: April 30, 2013
There was no surprise when 14th ranked Kavala (5-19) was edged by eighth ranked Aris (12-13) in Thessaloniki 80-79 on Tuesday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 16-13 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Aris made 21-of-23 free shots (91.3 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Antonis Asimakopoulos (203-76) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 6 rebounds. The former international forward Michalis Pelekanos (198-81, agency: FCM) contributed with 12 points for the winners. Four Aris players scored in double figures. American forward William Coleman (206-88, college: Memphis) answered with 21 points and naturalized Serbian guard Igor Milosevic (193-86, agency: Beo Basket) added 9 points and 10 assists in the effort for Kavala. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Aris have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Ikaros. Kavala lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 19 games lost. Aris will face Kolossos (#10) in Rodou in the next round. Kavala will play at home against AGOR (#5) in Rethymno.
