Very significant was Garra Canera de Navolato's (#5) just 2-point road victory against one of their biggest challengers Tijuana Zonkeys 93-91. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Tijuana Zonkeys. It looked good early as Tijuana Zonkeys took an 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Garra Canera de Navolato took control winning next two quarters and eventually winning the game that evening by 2 points. Garra Canera de Navolato players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American center Bernard Toombs (208-87, college: Troy) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points and 17 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import forward Ronald Selleaze (197-76, college: CSU Bakersfield, agency: Dream Team Management) supported him with 26 points and 7 rebounds. Even a triple-double of 25 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists by American swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) did not help to save the game for Tijuana Zonkeys. point guard Elvis Medina (183-84, college: Arizona W. CC) added 17 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Garra Canera de Navolato (8-9) moved-up to fourth place. Tijuana Zonkeys at the other side dropped to the seventh position with ten games lost. Garra Canera de Navolato will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tijuana Zonkeys will play again at home against Garra Canera de Navolato (#4) and hope to get back on the winning track.
