Regular Season Round 32: Valencia - Blancos de R. 93-86
Date: May 4, 2013
Not a big story in a game when 13th ranked Blancos de Rueda (12-20) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Valencia Basket (20-12) 93-86. It looked good early as Blancos de Rueda took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Valencia Basket had a 33-19 second period charge getting the lead and Blancos de Rueda was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 86-93. Valencia Basket made 21-of-24 charity shots (87.5 percent) during the game. Strangely Blancos de Rueda outrebounded Valencia Basket 34-18 including a 22-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The winners were led by American forward Justin Doellman (206-85, college: Xavier, agency: Beo Basket) who scored that evening 29 points and 4 steals (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and Montenegrin Bojan Dubljevic (205-91, agency: Beo Basket) supported him with 21 points. Valencia Basket's coach Velimir Perasovic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds by forward Nacho Martin (205-83) did not help to save the game for Blancos de Rueda. Naturalized Bosnian center Nedzad Sinanovic (221-83) added 16 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the guests. Five Blancos de Rueda players scored in double figures. Valencia Basket maintains fourth position with 20-12 record. Blancos de Rueda at the other side keeps the thirteenth place with 20 games lost. Valencia Basket's next round opponent will be Gescrap BB (#5) in Bilbao. Blancos de Rueda will play at home against Blusens Monbus (#10) in Santoago de Comp.
