Regular Season Round 20: Tijuana - Navolato 86-74

There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (8-10) beat at home one of their biggest challengers Garra Canera de Navolato (8-10) 86-74 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Tijuana Zonkeys. Garra Canera de Navolato was better in fourth quarter 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tijuana Zonkeys looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Point guard Luis Ramirez (180-82) orchestrated the victory by scoring 28 points and 5 assists. American forward James Penny (198-76, college: TCU) contributed with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American center Bernard Toombs (208-87, college: Troy) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Ronald Selleaze (197-76, college: CSU Bakersfield, agency: Dream Team Management) added 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Garra Canera de Navolato. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tijuana Zonkeys moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Cananea and Navolato. Tijuana Zonkeys will face higher ranked Fuerza Guinda Nogales (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Garra Canera de Navolato will play against Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon.
