Regular Season Round 21: Nogales - Tijuana 71-86

Very significant was Tijuana Zonkeys' (#4) 15-point road victory against 3rd placed Fuerza Guinda Nogales 86-71. It looked good early as Fuerza Guinda Nogales took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Tijuana Zonkeys had a 23-15 second period charge getting the lead and Fuerza Guinda Nogales were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 71-86. Tijuana Zonkeys players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. American swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) nailed 30 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and point guard Luis Ramirez (180-82) accounted for 21 points. American swingman O'Louis McCullough (198-82, college: Francis Marion) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and international forward Michael Strobbe (201-85) added 10 points and 9 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) respectively for Fuerza Guinda Nogales in the defeat. Four Fuerza Guinda Nogales players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Tijuana Zonkeys have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Fuerza Guinda Nogales lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with 11 games lost. Tijuana Zonkeys will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Fuerza Guinda Nogales will play again at home against Tijuana Zonkeys (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
