The most shocking disappointment of round 21 in the CIBACOPA was a home defeat of 3rd placed Fuerza Guinda Nogales (9-11) to fourth ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (10-10) 100-88. Tijuana Zonkeys forced 19 Fuerza Guinda Nogales turnovers. Strangely Fuerza Guinda Nogales outrebounded Tijuana Zonkeys 49-28 including a 22-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. Tijuana Zonkeys looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. American swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners and the former international point guard Omar Quintero (183-81, college: S.Nazarene) chipped in 17 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Five Tijuana Zonkeys players scored in double figures. Tijuana Zonkeys' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American swingman Cheyne Gadson (192-80, college: Oklahoma St.) with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and Bahamas power forward Ryan Moss (200-74, college: UALR) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds. Tijuana Zonkeys have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Fuerza Guinda Nogales lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with 11 games lost. Tijuana Zonkeys will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Fuerza Guinda Nogales will play again at home against Tijuana Zonkeys (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
