Quarter-Finals Round 2: Telekom Baskets - EWE Baskets 88-80

Date: May 9, 2013
EWE Baskets trailed by 15 points after 3 quarters before a 23-16 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 80-88 at the end of the game. Strangely EWE Baskets outrebounded Telekom Baskets 44-27 including 16 on the offensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Telekom Baskets especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. American point guard Jared Jordan (188-84, college: Marist) notched a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 assists to lead the effort and the other American import forward Jamel McLean (203-88, college: Xavier) supported him with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Even 19 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) by naturalized Dutch forward Robin Smeulders (207-87, college: Portland, agency: Court Side) did not help to save the game for EWE Baskets. American point guard Dru Joyce (183-85, college: Akron, agency: LUMANI 10.7) added 13 points for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. EWE Baskets' coach Sebastian Machowski rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help.
