Regular Season Round 26: Guaymas - Los Mochis 95-83
Date: May 15, 2013
No shocking result in a game when second ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (18-6) beat at home bottom-ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (7-15) 95-83 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Ostioneros de Guaymas. Pioneros Los Mochis managed to win fourth quarter 33-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ostioneros de Guaymas looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Pioneros Los Mochis' players. American guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) notched a double-double by scoring 16 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the effort and the former international swingman Miguel Ayala (198-82, college: UTEP) supported him with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Four Ostioneros de Guaymas players scored in double figures. Ostioneros de Guaymas' coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 25 points and 6 rebounds by American forward Devon Pearson (198-84, college: SMU) did not help to save the game for Pioneros Los Mochis. His fellow American import point guard Phillip Harris (180, college: Oklahoma S&A) added 22 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. Ostioneros de Guaymas have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 18-6 record behind leader Hermosillo. Loser Pioneros Los Mochis stay at the bottom place with 15 games lost. Ostioneros de Guaymas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Pioneros Los Mochis will play against Garra Canera de Navolato (#5) and hope to secure a win.
