LPB top team - Marinos (38-14) managed to deliver another win on Thursday. This time they beat tenth ranked Toros (18-34) in Puerto La Cruz 84-71. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 49-32 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Marinos outrebounded Toros 46-33 including 16 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Toros' players. It was a great evening for Dutch center Dan Gadzuric (211-78, college: UCLA) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds. The former international swingman Oscar Torres (198-76, agency: Interperformances) helped adding 19 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Four Marinos players scored in double figures. American forward Anthony Johnson (203-88, college: Fairfield) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds and the former international center Alejandro Barrios (204-79) scored 19 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Marinos have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 38-14 record. Toros lost eighth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 34 lost games. Marinos are looking forward to face Panteras (#9) in Caracas in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Toros will play on the road against Guaiqueries in Porlamar and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
