Finals Game 3: Academica - Benfica 79-74 OT

Academica escaped the elimination eding Benfica in overtime and remained in the title race. The teams will meet again tomorrow in the fourth game of the championship series. Benfica was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 15-10 charge of Academica, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 12-7. 25 personal fouls committed by Benfica helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for the former international point guard Mario Fernandes (176-82) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points and 9 assists (went 14 for 14 at the free throw line !!!). American-Spanish forward Arnette Hallman (199-88) helped adding 14 points and 14 rebounds. The best for the losing side was the former international Joao Gomes (201-85) with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 17 rebounds and American guard LaceDarius Dunn (193-87, college: Baylor, agency: Three Eye Sports) scored 22 points and 6 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!).
