CIBACOPA top team - Rayos de Hermosillo (25-6) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat ninth ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (9-20) 90-78. The game was mostly controlled by Rayos de Hermosillo. Pioneros Los Mochis was better in third quarter 25-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Rayos de Hermosillo players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. American forward Kyle Spain (196-87, college: San Diego St.) stepped up and scored 20 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and the former international forward Jesus Lopez (205-83, college: SW Baptist) chipped in 13 points and 11 rebounds. Rayos de Hermosillo's coach Dan Tacheny allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was American forward Devon Pearson (198-84, college: SMU) with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists and the other American import center Tyrone McNeal (213) scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Rayos de Hermosillo have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 25-6 record. Pioneros Los Mochis lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 20 games lost. Rayos de Hermosillo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Pioneros Los Mochis will play again at home against the league's leader Rayos de Hermosillo (#1) and hope to get back on the winning track.
