Very important is a road loss of second ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (22-8) against fourth ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (15-15) on Wednesday night. Visiting Ostioneros de Guaymas were defeated by Tijuana Zonkeys in Tijuana 96-86. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Ostioneros de Guaymas. Tijuana Zonkeys dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Ostioneros de Guaymas' 38. Tijuana Zonkeys players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. The former international point guard Omar Quintero (183-81, college: S.Nazarene) notched 37 points (!!!) and 6 assists to lead the effort and American forward James Penny (198-76, college: TCU) supported him with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Even 21 points by Juan Rangel (-93) did not help to save the game for Ostioneros de Guaymas. The former international guard Anthony Pedroza (191-79, college: Oregon, agency: Edge Sports) added 16 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Four Tijuana Zonkeys and five Ostioneros de Guaymas players scored in double figures. Tijuana Zonkeys moved-up to third place, which they share with Nogales. Ostioneros de Guaymas at the other side keep the second position with eight games lost. Tijuana Zonkeys will play against Frayles de Guasave (#7) on the road in the next round. Ostioneros de Guaymas will play against Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon (#6) and hope to get back on the winning track.
