Sixth-ranked Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon (12-19) made lots of trouble for second ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (23-8) on Friday. Ostioneros de Guaymas managed to secure only two-point victory 105-103. However their fans expected much easier game. Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 23-18 charge of Ostioneros de Guaymas, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) who scored 43 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 8 assists. The former international forward Hector Hernandez (206-85, college: Fresno St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds. American Kenny Jones (198-84, college: Kentucky St., agency: Dream Team Management) produced 29 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward Nate Carter (201-83, college: Oklahoma, agency: Fusion Sports) added 18 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ostioneros de Guaymas maintains second place with 23-8 record having four points less than leader Hermosillo. Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon at the other side dropped to the eighth position with 19 games lost. Ostioneros de Guaymas are again looking forward to face Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon will have a break next round.
