Regular Season Round 36: Guaymas - Obregon 92-93

The most exciting game of round 36 in the CIBACOPA took place in Guaymas. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of second-best Ostioneros de Guaymas (23-9) to eighth ranked Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon (13-19) 93-92 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 32-15 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Ostioneros de Guaymas outrebounded Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon 45-30 including 17 on the offensive glass. It was a good game for American Kenny Jones (198-84, college: Kentucky St., agency: Dream Team Management) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. The other American import forward Leroy Davis (200-81, college: Georgia St.) contributed with 15 points for the winners. American guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) replied with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and the former international forward Hector Hernandez (206-85, college: Fresno St.) added 19 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Ostioneros de Guaymas. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ostioneros de Guaymas' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon maintains eighth position with 13-19 record. Ostioneros de Guaymas at the other side keep the second place with nine games lost.
