Regular Season Round 36: Los Mochis - Cananea 81-95

Date: June 1, 2013
No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Mineros de Cananea (14-18) beat on the road bottom-ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (9-23) 95-81 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Mineros de Cananea. Pioneros Los Mochis managed to win second period 27-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mineros de Cananea looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists. American players dominated the game. The winners were led by forward Sammy Monroe (198-85, college: Newberry) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 29 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists and forward Kyle Austin (203-88, college: Cal-Riverside) supported him with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Monroe is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even a triple-double of 20 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists by forward Devon Pearson (198-84, college: SMU) did not help to save the game for Pioneros Los Mochis. Guard Phillippe Harris (180-85, college: Fayetteville St., agency: Athlete Management Group) added 19 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Mineros de Cananea moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Guasave. Pioneros Los Mochis lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 23 games lost.
