Regular Season Round 8: Nanjin Army - Chongqing FD 101-106 OT

Eighth-ranked Nanjin Army (2-6) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Chongqing FD (7-1) on Wednesday. The visitors from Guangzhou managed to secure only five-point victory 106-101. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 27-20 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 16-11. Chongqing FD forced 23 Nanjin Army turnovers. Nanjin Army was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Josh Harrellson (208-89, college: Kentucky) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 20 rebounds and 6 blocks. point guard XueSong Li (190-91) contributed with 27 points (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners. Forward Shengyue Sun (198-89) replied with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds and center JiaFu Tian (208-91) added 23 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Nanjin Army. Four Nanjin Army players scored in double figures. Nanjin Army's coach ZiKai Zhang rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Chongqing FD maintains first position with 7-1 record. Nanjin Army at the other side keeps the eighth place with six games lost. Chongqing FD will face league's second-placed Changsha Bank in Guangdong in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Nanjin Army will play on the road against Guangzhou L. (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
