Very important is a road loss of second ranked Hong Kong (7-3) against seventh ranked Heilongjiang (5-5) on Sunday night. Visiting Hong Kong was defeated by Heilongjiang in Heilongjiang 121-108. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Hong Kong. The game was mostly controlled by Heilongjiang. Hong Kong managed to win second period 36-29. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Heilongjiang shot 64.2 percent from the field and made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Heilongjiang forced 20 Hong Kong turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 64.0 percentage. Heilongjiang looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. American forward Kevinn Pinkney (207-83, college: Nevada) notched a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 17 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and swingman Nan Wang (198-87) supported him with 35 points (!!!) and 9 assists. Even 41 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field) by American forward Craig Smith (201-83, college: Boston Coll.) did not help to save the game for Hong Kong. Forward MingLiang Wei (195-82) added 23 points for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Hong Kong's coach ZhaoShen Chen tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Heilongjiang have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain seventh position with 5-5 record. Loser Hong Kong keeps the second place with three games lost. They share the position with Sichuan BW and Jiangsu TX. Heilongjiang will meet Nanjin Army (#8) on the road in the next round. Hong Kong will play against Hebei S. (#10) and hope to secure a win.
