Regular Season Round 14: Guangzhou L. - Hebei S. 92-73

Bottom-ranked Hebei S. (0-14) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 92-73 loss to sixth ranked Guangzhou L. (8-6) in Guangzhou on Wednesday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Guangzhou L.. Hebei S. managed to win second period 17-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guangzhou L. dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Hebei S.'s 34. Guangzhou L. forced 25 Hebei S. turnovers. American forward Shawne Williams (206-86, college: Memphis) had a double-double by scoring 27 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward JinRong Mei (208-90) chipped in 20 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Forward Lei Zhao (196-89) responded with 11 points and 5 rebounds and point guard BoWen Tan (180-93) scored 10 points and 4 steals. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains sixth position with 8-6 record. Loser Hebei S. still closes the standings with 14 games lost. Guangzhou L. will meet Jiang Xi (#9) in the next round. Hebei S. will play against the league's second-placed Changsha Bank in Guangdong and hopes to get finally their first victory.
